A biocompatible amphiphilic triblock polymer consisting of a hydrophilic central peg block and two terminal hydrophobic poly (D, L-lactide) (PLLA) blocks. These materials have been used in controlled release preparations and nanoparticle formation for drug delivery applications. Well defined materials with various properties can be prepared by controlling the relative length of each polymer block. Hydroxyl end capping can realize further chemical modification of these materials.
